Titre : Membrane Proteomics: Surface Markers & Horizontal Signaling.

Résumé : In-depth studies of membrane proteins have previously proven to be difficult for reasons including hydrophobicity and low abundance. Recent advances in proteomics technologies make it now possible to investigate this important cell compartment to an impressive depth elucidating previously unannotated membrane proteins. Here, I will present how plasma membrane proteomics has lead to the identification of a novel cardiac membrane protein involved in regulating gap junction communication. In addition, an improved proteomics method for the rapid isolation and quantitative analyses of cell culture-derived exosomes and its application to intercellular signalling in the tumor microenvironment, will be presented.
