Biographie
Prior to his academic position at the University of Ottawa, Prof. Pascal Fallavollita completed a postdoctoral fellowship on image-guided cancer therapy in collaboration with the teams at Queen’s University and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He then led the research activities at the Navigated Augmented Reality Visualization System (NARVIS) Lab, of the Chair for Computer Aided Medical Procedures, Technische Universität München, in the area of medical augmented reality. Prof. Fallavollita’s research interests include delivering innovative technologies in all phases of a clinician’s upbringing - ranging from medical education, surgical simulation and training, intraoperative imaging and surgical navigation, and development of surgical systems and user interfaces for therapy delivery. He holds over 100 refereed publications in internationally ranked venues, with several patents, and is currently co-editor of the International Society for Computer Aided Surgery newsletter. Other activities include the organization of key workshops at the MICCAI and ISMAR conferences. In 2018, he will be a co-Program Chair at the Information Processing in Computer-Assisted Interventions (IPCAI) conference. Lastly, he is a new recipient of an NSERC Discovery grant for his work i‘Personalized Perception and Interaction in Mixed Reality Environments’ and an Early Researcher Award for his work in ‘3D Interventional Augmented Reality’.
