Abstract:

Research in our group is focused on experimental understanding of emergent properties in aggregated organic semiconductor assemblies with an ultimate goal of Borrowing from single-molecule spectroscopy approaches, we use isolated crystalline nanowires as a “super-molecule” platform where optical polarization (in both excitation and emission) can be referenced to specific crystallographic axes.   In this talk, I will describe some recent work probing directional inter-chromophore coupling in organic nanowire assemblies via optical and conducting probe AFM techniques, and how this work might impact OPV active layer design rules.

Professor Barnes is the external examiner of Elham Rezasoltani of Carlos Silva's group.
