Titre : Advancing Transition Metal Reactivity Through Ligand Design
Endroit : Pavillon J.-Armand Bombardier, salle 1035 à 11 h
Hôte : Davit Zargarian

Cette conférence sera prononcée (en anglais) par la Professeure Laura Turculet de l'Université Dalhousie.

Résumé: With the goal of discovering new and/or improved metal mediated reactivity for use in synthetic applications, research in the Turculet group targets the transition metal chemistry of new and readily accessible, multidentate ancillary ligands. Recent progress in this regard will be discussed, focusing on two new ligand classes developed in our laboratory: (i) tridentate bis(phsosphino) silyl 'PSiP' pincers; and (ii) bidentate N-phosphinoamidinate 'PN' ligands. Such ligands have been found to support unusual and highly reactive low-coordinate metal complexes, including unprecedented examples of four-coordinate Ru(II) and three-coordinate Pt(II) species. The application of such complexes in E-H (E = main group element, e.g. C, N, Si, B) bond activation chemistry will also be addressed, including rare examples of N-H oxidative addition of amines and ammonia that are of relevance in the development of new amination reactions.
