The hydrogen-deficient side of stellar evolution - Nicole Reindl (University of Leicester)

Résumé

About one out of five intermediate-mass stars turns hydrogen-deficient in its late stages of stellar evolution. While the reason for this hydrogen-deficiency is understood for some of the stars, other objects still keep on challenging our understanding of the late evolution of sun-like stars. I will present latest discoveries and review our current understanding of hydrogen-deficient side of stellar evolution. In particular, I will present preliminary results of recent investigations of the so-call hot wind white dwarfs, which represent probably the least understood group of white dwarfs.
