Titre : Development of Continuous Flow Methodologies for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)

Résumé : Drug manufacture in batch cannot readily adjust to market demands. This was highlighted by several recent shortages of essential medicines globally. Flow chemistry with its various advantages has brought a paradigm shift as it allows for the on-demand production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). We have used continuous flow to synthesize paracetamol, which was in short supply due to COVID-19, from a cost-efficient starting material. We have developed a new methodology to prepare diazo compounds under continuous flow conditions via oxidation of hydrazones using iodosylbenzene. This methodology could lead to the synthesis of active pharmaceutical targets. Finally, we utilized continuous flow to prepare propofol over two steps without neutralization or isolation between ste
